The brief
The trust had a year to raise the case for eleven acres of urban wetland, against a development proposal with a much larger budget and a much simpler story.
Their material was thorough, footnoted and unread. The campaign had to move people who would never open a forty page report.
The move
We made the evidence the art direction. Every poster is one measured fact set at full sheet size, with the source line kept visible at the foot, so the campaign is quotable and checkable at the same time.
The editorial system stacked those facts into a newsprint broadsheet handed out at transit stops, printed on stock cheap enough to give away and good enough to keep. Signage on the site itself used the same sheet sizes, so a poster on a bus shelter and a marker in the reeds read as one voice.
People arrived at the hearing quoting our own numbers back to us. That has never happened before.
